  • Last Friday, State Senator Marty Golden’s nephew Daniel, along with two friends, were acquitted of a 2010 gang assault – which had stemmed from a bar-turned-street fight with two off-duty police officers and a firefighter in Bay Ridge.

Senator Golden applauded the jury for their decision to not convict Daniel Golden and John DeCarlo of beating a Port Authority cop, and Kevin Crowley of stabbing a firefighter during a Bay Ridge bar brawl in April 2010, as reported by the New York Post.

The fight began inside the bar Kettle Black [8622 3rd Ave] and ended outside on the sidewalk, where Port Authority police officer Ryan McCarthy’s jaw was shattered.

Defense lawyers laid the blame on off-duty NYPD officer Paul Aparo and firefighter Rosario Cicero — who had reportedly been drinking heavily. Michael Cibella, a lawyer for DeCarlo, accused the victims of doctoring surveillance footage.

A fourth defendant, Peter Jung, was acquitted Monday, while Michael Crowley was convicted of misdemeanor possession of a knife.
