Here’s our roundup of some of the crime reports that happened in and around Bensonhurst in the last two weeks, courtesy of the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct.
- A perp broke into the rear window of a basement on Bay 10th Street on April 4, 9:30am, and made off with some jewelry, according to the NYPD.
- On April 4, at 5:45pm, a man was walking home from his job at Tortilla King on 86th Street when, police say, he was approached by a man who hit him about the face with an object and grabbed his phone. The victim returned to his place of employment and called 911. The police attempted to find the phone with the Find My iPhone app, but were unsuccessful in tracking down the perps.
- Never try to sell sneakers on the internet. A man meeting up to sell a $270 a pair kick under the train at 86th Street and 20th Avenue on April 4, at 9:14pm was robbed at gunpoint by one perp standing behind him, while the other two perps assaulted him from the front. Thankfully, police tell us, the victim was able to identify two of the perps who were arrested shortly after the assault.
- A witness described to police a crime that he witnessed on 79th Street and 19th Avenue on April 2, at 12:25am. The victim got into an altercation with two perps who chased the victim down the street onto 19th Avenue. One perp produced a knife and slashed the victim across the face and body, causing superficial lacerations. The perps fled in a dark colored Nissan Sedan that was waiting for them. The armed bandits escaped with the victim’s wallet and cash.
