The above photo, courtesy of David Tan, shows foot-tapping commuters waiting for the next Coney Island bound D Train on the elevated platform of the 62nd Street Station.

It was taken on August 13, 2011, using a Canon A-1 armed with Kodak Ultra Max 400 film.

The above photo wasn’t taken in Manhattan or Brownstone Brooklyn.

It was taken right here on Cropsey Avenue and Bay 22nd Street. This image proves that there are plenty of gorgeous, neglected old buildings and hand painted signs in Southern Brooklyn just waiting for someone’s tender loving care to restore them to their former glory.

With this beautiful shot, photographer David Tan goes digital, and yet still manages to achieve his trademark muted colors.

David captured this classic street scene using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS 48mm,
f/5.6 at 1/125s, ISO 100.

When I look at this photo by David Tan, I can’t help but think of the Charlie Chaplin film The Kid. David used Kodak ColorPlus 200 film with a Konica Autoreflex T3. Taken on 86th Street.

The above photo can also be seen on local photographer Jason Newman’s Flickr page. It was taken on August 27, using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

Jason’s wife Samina, who sent us the image, had the following to say:

My husband loves taking photos of our local neighborhood. This is one he took right before Hurricane Irene was supposed to arrive. This is looking down 86th Street under the train. I hope you like it enough to include it in your Friday Photo Finish.

We like! We like!

Thanks so much, Jason and Samina!
